Gentle Waves

Gentle waves quietly
lapping upon the beach,
the wild call of seagulls
their young they teach.
Some are aground
searching out food,
while others glide
wind lifting the brood.
Terns racing across dunes
at a frantic rate,
zigging and zagging
in search of a mate.
From distant rocks
the bark of a seal,
a symphony of nature
for the heart so real.
The pungent smell
of a camp fire,
BBQing oysters
while in beach attire.
Two people strolling
locked hand and hand,
thoughts of contentment
toes sinking in the sand.
Quick little glances
from one to the other,
causing smiles and sighs
as together they discover.
Each had been alone
for far too long,
now together they share
lifes sweet love song.
He loosens his grip
thumb brushing her palm,
a tender light gesture
evoking a soft calm.
So much time
spent all alone,
stepping through life
like a soulless clone.
